About the Role

Behavioral Health Aide Trainee: High School diploma or equivalent. Must be able to lift and carry a minimum of 50 pounds. Familiar with the local community. Alaska driver’s license within six (6) months of hire with a good enough driving record to be covered by Maniilaq Association Vehicle insurance is preferred. Behavioral Health Aides are required to obtain a Certified Chemical Dependency Counselor I certificate or national equivalent within two (2) years. **All Behavioral Health Aides will also be required to obtain and maintain a Behavioral Health Aide Certification**Behavioral Health Aide I:Meets the requirements of a trainee above PLUS, a certification as a Chemical Dependency Counselor level I (or the national equivalent), or two (2) years full time work experience in chemical dependency and the ability to become certified as a Chemical Dependency Counselor I (or the national equivalent) within six (6) months of hire. A Bachelor’s degree, Associate’s degree, or Certificate from an accredited educational facility, in a relevant field (Social Services, Social Work, Addiction, Human Services, Psychiatric nursing, Psychology, Addiction) may be submitted for consideration as a substitute for one (1) year of the two (2) years of required experience. The college degrees are considered on a case-by-case basis. The degree must be from an accredited college. Behavioral Health Aide II:Meets the requirements of a BHA I above PLUS, has a total of at least Four (4) full time work experience in chemical dependency treatment with a minimum of 1500 documented client contact hours and 100 documented Community Outreach Hours. ** Documented client hours and community outreach hours must be signed off by a Chemical Dependency Supervisor** A Bachelor’s degree, Associate’s degree, or Certificate from an accredited educational facility, in a relevant field (Social Services, Social Work, Addiction, Human Services, Psychiatric nursing, Psychology) may be submitted for consideration as a substitute for one (1) year of the four required years of experience. A Master’s Degree in a Behavioral Health/Social Service or Additions may be substituted for years of experience.
