About the Role
Medication Technician I/Administrative Assistant I: High school diploma or equivalent. College level course work in chemistry to medical related disciplines preferred. Must begin the process of obtaining a pharmacy technician license from the State of Alaska within 3 months of hire date. Must be able to successfully pass the State of Alaska background check for licensing requirement. Ability to make accurate measurements and conversions from the English Metric measurement systems. Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of healthcare professionals. Physical ability to lift up to 40 lbs., stand for prolong periods of time. Needs to be familiar and proficient with the use of computers. Must be able to type well enough to carry out essential job duties. Experience in creating and maintain filing systems. Ability to deal with people in a friendly and respectful manner both in person and on the telephone. Medical terminology or other health-related background desirable. Medication Technician II/Administrative Assistant II: Qualifications of a Medication Technician/Administrative Assistant I. Experience in a clinical setting and familiar with medical terminology is required. Willingness to attend job related training and education programs. Must be willing to be on call in times of declared disasters. Familiar with requirements and documentation in patient files. Must be familiar with Electronic Health Records. Must have 6 months previous experience as a Medication Technician I. Must be familiar with the current drug wholesale order system or equivalent. One year of clerical work experience that includes use of Electronic Health Records, issuing travel requisitions, creating and maintaining filing systems and performing data entry. Ability to deal with people in a friendly and respectful manner both in person and on the telephone. Medical terminology or other health-related background required.
