About the Role
TELECOMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST I High school diploma or equivalent. One year computer experience or completion of computer technology course. Must be willing to learn the basic fundamentals of telecommunication services. Must have the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing with people in the service area and state agencies required. Must be able to work independently and be able to prioritize and manage several projects at one time. Familiar with the Maniilaq Service Area, the culture, and its people, preferred. TELECOMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST II All requirements of the Telecommunications Specialist I, plus an additional year of computer systems experience. Working technical knowledge of PBX/IP Phone Systems, voice mail, and interactive voice services. Strong hands-on knowledge of the installation, implementation, and maintenance of telecommunications equipment, video teleconferencing equipment, and voice/data equipment. Hands-on experience designing, installing, and troubleshooting cabling and wiring systems. Experience in training others. Telecommunications Specialist III All requirements of Telecommunications Specialist I/II, plus an additional year of computer systems experience. TELECOMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST IV All requirements of Telecommunications Specialist I/II/III. AA/AS or BA/BS in the field of telecommunications or computer science and/or two years equivalent work experience. Certified in current telephone system in use. Certified in wiring and/or fiber installations.
